When should I take my senior pictures?
I’ve been doing this for so long that sometimes I forget that planning senior sessions isn’t in your daily life…It’s in mine! Here are some tips to help you decide on when you should take your senior pictures.
When to take senior pictures…
Seasonal Foliage
Some foliage is only available certain times of the year.
√ Spring Blossoms – Mid-End of May
√ Wheat Flied – Mid-End of July
√ Sunflower Field – Early August
√ Fall Leaves – End of September
√ Snow – December or January (not really foliage, but you get my point)
Showcasing Activities
Maybe you want to showcase a hobby or an event that you love. Think of when you do that to help you decide on when you should shoot your session.
√ Water Sports – July/August (when water is warm)
√ Fair Grounds – July (search specific dates)
√ Snowmobiling – January/February (make sure we have snow)
√ Golf – May/June
Other Variables
Here are some other things to think about that might determine when you should shoot your session.
√ Bugs – June is warm with the least amount of mosquitoes!
√ Outfits – If you love the cozy look, maybe plan for September/October. If you love tanks and sleeveless dresses, spring or summer months are best.
√ Humidity – Have curly hair? Get it done in the spring!
